The Greatest Words We Ever Heard

Many people remember their lives in moments, photographs, experiences, maybe phrases. If we were to think about the greatest words we ever heard up until now, we might list the following:
"I love you"
"Will you marry me"
"I do"
"Congratulations it's a boy"
"Congratulations it's a girl"
Until now....
On Friday we got the results from Cooper's bone marrow test after the induction cycle of his chemotherapy. The doctor called us and said "no leukemia cells were detected". THIS IS HUGE!!!!
This for sure makes the top of our list. What a relief it was to hear that everything our child has been going through is working. Friday was probably the most nerve racking test and biggest indicator for us in his journey. The goal of induction was to achieve remission. So now we move forward.

Make no mistake, this by no means indicates that we are done. This does not indicate that the road is easy. This also certainly doesn't mean that we are cancer free and that he is in complete remission.

What this does mean is that the road we will travel is the best that is can be in this situation, which is still ugly. However, it is much less ugly than the alternative which might include transplants, and other experimental therapies. For now Cooper's bone marrow has recovered very well and many of his levels are within normal range..for now. Cooper has a little bit of freedom to do some normal kid things with obvious precautions, but we are thankful to hopefully have a little bit of normal for a little while. Cooper even felt well enough to get outside to enjoy some nice weather over the last week.

Cooper walked all the way to the part and also rode his scooter. This was a huge milestone for him to be able to do this again and really shows that his bones are recovering.
Just in case anyone forgot that Cooper has a sister...ha ha! She is currently 9 weeks old and winning at life. She is such a good baby!
 Halloween haunted candy house.

 Bocce Ball!!!

Currently we are on a doctor free, drug free, procedure free week, and it is the most awesome any of us have felt in over a month. Around here we get excited about Coop not having to wrap his arm in a plastic bag to take a normal shower, or not having to Heparin flush a PICC line. Perspective. SO...for now...life is good.

  1. This is wonderful news. Cooper has such a sunny smile and his baby sister is adorable. All of your music students at Lisbon ES miss you and ask about you often. Your chorus of 70 singers strong sounds great. Their concert is on December 12. xoxo
